Todd County Jail Roster Records

The official Todd County inmate roster is a public PDF linked from the Todd County Sheriff's Office. It is not an interactive inmate search portal. The inspected roster was labeled as a daily inmate roster and showed current Todd County Jail custody fields in a flat report format. That means there are no dropdown filters, profile pages, booking-number lookups, pagination controls, release tabs, or sort buttons. The practical search tool is the PDF reader on the phone, tablet, or browser used to open the file.

The Todd County jail roster is strongest for current local custody. It can show a person booked into Todd County Jail after arrest, held on local charges, held on warrants, or serving a short local jail sentence. It does not cover people who have moved into Minnesota prison custody after sentencing, federal custody, or immigration detention. Use the Todd County Roster

Open the official daily inmate roster PDF when the question is whether someone is currently housed at Todd County Jail. Since the report is not a database, a careful text search works better than scanning each page by eye. The roster can be searched for name text, statute text, city text, or other words that appear in the report. If the PDF does not answer the question, call jail staff before making a trip or sending money.

1. Open the daily roster PDF from the sheriff's site and confirm the report loaded as a document, not a search form.
2. Use Ctrl+F, Command+F, or the PDF search tool to search the last name first, then try the first name or middle name.
3. If the name is common, compare age, arrest date, address text, and charge description before assuming the record is the right person.
4. Search by statute number or charge phrase when the name spelling is uncertain or when a family member only knows the arrest reason.
5. Call Todd County Jail staff at 320-732-7743 if the person is not listed but may have been booked recently, released, transferred, or held under another name.

There is no official Todd County sheriff inmate-search app documented in the research. Todd County participates in CodeRED emergency alerts, but that alert program is not a custody lookup app and should not be used as a roster substitute.

Todd County Roster Fields

The roster field inventory matters because it shows what can and cannot be searched from the public report. A field that appears as text can usually be found with PDF search. A field that exists only as an image may be visible to the eye but not searchable as text. The Todd County roster uses a front mugshot column and text fields for names, age, arrest dates, addresses, and charges.

Because Todd County uses a report instead of a profile system, a missing field is meaningful. The public roster does not show booking number, booking time, bond amount, bond type, housing unit, court date, warrant number, projected release date, arresting agency, judge, or case number.

If the roster does not show enough detail, the next channel is the Todd County Sheriff's Office Records Unit. The records page says the unit maintains and shares records created or collected by the sheriff's office during criminal and non-criminal investigations. Requests may be made by email at Todd.records@co.todd.mn.us, by fax at 320-732-3754, by mail, or in person. The sheriff page lists records hours as Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Minnesota data rules affect what the records unit can release. The county page cites Minnesota Statute 13.02 for public, private, confidential, and protected nonpublic data classifications, and it cites Minnesota Statute 13.82 for law-enforcement data. Active investigative data may be withheld while an investigation is active. A requester may also be asked for identification before receiving private data. Copies of reports cost $0.25 per page under the county records page.

Todd County Custody Lookup Paths

A Todd County inmate search can fail for a good reason: the person may not be in county jail custody. Todd County Jail holds local detainees and local-sentence inmates. State-sentenced prisoners are searched through the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Federal prisoners are searched through BOP. Immigration custody is searched through ICE. Todd County's facility map identifies one detention facility in the county: Todd County Jail in Long Prairie. The jail is operated by the Todd County Sheriff's Office. The 2025 Minnesota DOC inspection identifies it as a Minnesota Class III local adult detention facility under Rule 2911. It holds pretrial detainees, local sentenced inmates, people held on local court or agency holds, and short juvenile holds under the rural exception described in the inspection report.

Todd County Booking Intake

Todd County does not publish a county-written booking manual, but the 2025 Minnesota DOC inspection quotes the admission standards that apply to Todd County Jail. Intake includes legal detention paperwork, admission date, confinement duration, charges, search of the person and property, property inventory, initial medical screening, mental-health screening, phone access before housing assignment, shower and hygiene items, photograph, fingerprints, identifying marks, aliases, address, emergency contact, classification, housing assignment, and booking number.

That process explains why a jail-held booking record can contain more detail than the public roster. The roster is a public-facing current-custody list. Internal booking data includes health, classification, property, and identification details that may be limited or nonpublic. The 2025 inspection also found the jail was using the required mental-health screening tool, but noted documentation issues in a small number of reviewed files and required an orientation plan with a signed statement.

For court timing after booking, use Todd County District Court and MCRO rather than the roster. Roster charges are arrest charges. Todd County Jail Visitation

The Todd County Jail page requires all in-person visits to be scheduled with jail staff before visitation. Visitors may be asked for picture identification. People under 18 may not visit unless they are immediate family of the inmate and are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Visits are 20 minutes, only three visits are allowed per session, and other visits must be done by video communication. Video visitation is available on site at no charge.

Todd County Inmate Contact

Correctional officers do not take inmate messages. The jail page directs family and friends to create an NCIC Correctional Services account to leave a message, and it states those messages are not confidential. Tablets may be issued after booking and after the inmate signs a user agreement. Tablet texting is also not confidential. Mail must come through the United States Post Office, and all mail is subject to inspection by corrections staff.

Todd County Commissary Funds

Funds can be added through the Lockdown kiosk in the video visitation area of the Todd County Sheriff's Office, through JailATM, or through NCIC account services. The kiosk accepts cash or credit card. The jail page lists a $3.00 fee for cash deposits and a $3.00 fee or 10 percent for credit-card deposits. Personal checks are not accepted. Correctional officers cannot share account information with anyone other than the inmate and will not accept money directly from the public.
