It placed the jail on biennial status with authority to operate from May 1, 2025 through April 30, 2027. The DOC compliance summary reported 98.41 percent mandatory-rule compliance and 100 percent essential-rule compliance.

The DOC FY25 Performance Report listed Todd County Jail average daily population at 17.65, with FY25 total expenditures of $1,569,119.31. A daily roster count is different. The roster inspected for research was printed June 18, 2026 and showed 8 current records, which should be treated as one point in time.

Visit Todd County Jail

All in-person visits at Todd County Jail must be scheduled with jail staff before the visit by calling 320-732-7743. Visitors may be asked for picture ID. A person under 18 may visit only when the person is an immediate family member of the inmate and is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Visits last 20 minutes, and the jail allows only three visits per session. All other visits must be done by video communication.

Todd County Jail Mail Money

Mail must come through the United States Post Office. The jail page states that all mail is subject to inspection by corrections staff. Inmates may buy stamps and envelopes at the jail, and the jail does not accept stamps or envelopes left by visitors. Correctional officers do not take inmate messages.

Personal checks are not accepted. Correctional officers cannot share account information with anyone other than the inmate and will not accept money directly from the public.

Todd County Jail Booking

Todd County does not publish a step-by-step booking page, but the 2025 DOC inspection quotes the admission standards that apply to the jail. Admission includes verifying legal detention documents, checking charges and confinement authority, searching the person and possessions, inventorying property, screening for medical and mental-health needs, allowing phone calls during booking and before housing assignment, issuing bedding and hygiene items, photographing and fingerprinting, recording identifying marks, and making initial classification and housing decisions.

The public roster is much narrower than the booking record kept inside the jail. It shows fields such as name, age, arrest date, address, charge citation, charge description, and front mugshot column. Todd County Jail Programs

The 2023 DOC inspection adds detail about jail conditions and services. It described the facility as well-maintained, clean, and organized, and noted tablets for individual inmate use with educational programming. It also reported a contracted medical provider, a nurse on site three times a week, and a mental-health professional twice a week. The 2025 inspection said the facility has no gym but has a recreation area with a workout video and a bike added since the prior inspection.

Todd-Wadena Community Corrections handles probation, supervised release, pretrial supervision, juvenile diversion, Sentencing to Service, domestic abuse education, female-specific programming, and related court services for Todd and Wadena counties. Those programs are separate from the jail roster, but they matter after an arrest when a person is released to supervision or sentenced to community-based conditions.

Todd County Jail History

The sheriff history page gives unusually specific jail history. Todd County's first sheriff took office in January 1867, and the first jail was built in 1900. The current jail opened in 1985 with a 24-inmate design capacity. A 1996 addition increased capacity to 34, a 2004 DOC action allowed 44, and a 2007 construction project increased the jail to 52 inmates.
